With Debbie we thought it would be fun to do a character interview, but not a regular one, an interview with Stella the Teg, one of the "bad guys" in the story. Personally, I'm not exactly a fan of Stella's, but she's got that something, that much must be said.
Remember that you need to use the spell to summon her and that she has quite a temper! In case you want to read all about her, just click on the banner or on the quote.
CHARACTER INTERVIEW FOR THE UMBRAE BLOG TOUR
(Umbrae Blog Tour – March 14)
“Datgelwch eich hun Stella yr Teg!”
“Hey, who’s that? Who dares to summon Stella the Teg?” The tiny green fairy flies around in circles and waves her wand menacingly.
“It’s alright. I’ll let you go back home in a minute. I only want to ask you a few questions.”
“Questions, you say? And what does Stella get in return? Silver maybe, do you have a silver coin for me?”
My research had prepared me for this. I hold out a tiny silver coin. Stella snatches it from my hand and sniffs it.
“Yes, silver – very small, so only a few questions. Go ahead Stella will answer.”
“So, um tell me Stella what exactly is a Teg?”
“A fairy, of course – but a very special fairy. As you know Stella is of Welsh ancestry, but occasionally I have been known to frequent Ireland too – especially the isle of Inis Fraogh. Have you been there?”
“No, no, I’ve never …”
“Oh you should. The old castle is wondrous and the purple flowers divine. But I digress you have more questions?”
“Are you the only Teg or are there others?”
“There are two, Stella and her sister Morgana. Of course Stella is the more powerful!”
The tiny fairy waves her wand and flitters around and I try to stifle a giggle.
“What are you laughing at?” She flies right up to my nose and stares at me with her beady eyes. “You had better not be laughing at Stella. You need to remember that sometimes very strong magic comes in small packages.”
I back away. “So Stella what do you like to do for fun?”
“Oh fun! I love fun! I love to dance and sing and play and would you like to join me? You could come to the ball. We have such delectable treats at the ball …”
“Do you have a favorite food Stella?”
“Oh yes, a favorite food – let me think. I know Shadow Fruit crumble. My cook makes a wonderful Shadow Fruit Crumble and to wash it down my favorite beverage – a special wine made from the grapes of the vineyard of Inis Fraogh. It’s deep green – just like me and so divine.”
I giggle. “So I guess I know your favorite color?”
“Green – of course, emerald green!”
“And one more question. What do you think of cats?”
“Hate them!!!! Every single time a cat enters the Dominion of the Tegs it leads to nothing but trouble. I wish they would all stay away.”
“Shame I’m quite partial to cats myself.”
“Then I have nothing more to say to you. Good day, I would say it was a pleasure speaking to you, but truly I only enjoy speaking to my reflection in the mirror!”
With that Stella promptly disappears in a flash of green smoke.
You can read about Stella the Teg and her sister Morgana in Argentum, Umbrae and in the short story Ramora.
