AUTHOR K. J. HAWKINS
KJ Hawkins is a young fantasy author making her way into print. She has had a strong love for fantasy since she was nine years old.
As an adult the magic stayed with her inspiring her to write stories of adventure and magic. Hawkins, at her best, brings personality to every word she writes, exciting her readers with every page.
KJ Hawkins is actually a pen name taken from the initials of her real first and last name. Hawkins came from her favorite childhood film, Treasure Planet, the lead character is James Hawkins!
Trisha was a normal teenage girl who lived with her Grams in Cottbus, Germany. At a young age she was orphaned due to her mother’s untimely death, leaving her to be raised by her Grams. As she grew, and in a time of war and discrimination, Trisha wondered about her father. She asked questions about him with no answer, which left a scar on her heart.
Life in times of war were hard, especially if you were of Jewish decent in Nazi Germany. Grams did her best to keep Trisha fed, and clothed, with a roof over their heads. However, with laws preventing her from doing what was needed to care for a child, life was barely worth living. Still, Trisha found herself growing calm and collected as time passed. She didn’t take any moment for granted.
Then on her fourteenth birthday things went horribly wrong. Soldiers came to the city, tearing down doors and taking families away. She was separated from her Grams and thrown into a rail car towards and unknown destination. All Trisha knew was that life was over, at least how she remembered it.
As it made stop after stop the rail car became packed to its breaking point. Trisha was unable to do anything but stand and hope she didn’t get crushed. Worry and lack of sleep started to take its toll on her, until hours turned into days. Trisha began to see things she couldn’t believe. Soldiers walking by with sharp teeth, glowing red eyes, and claws so gigantic her stomach reeled at the sight. She kept her mouth closed, hoping it was her imagination running away with her.
Eventually, the day came when the rail car stopped. The doors opened to reveal the most traumatizing sight of them all. A creature in the form of a Nazi soldier stood before her.
